Answer is no. This is what we'll happen: having the IP address, you'll need to go to the ISP or Internet Service Provider, the only entity possessing address information for such IP. However, since the ISP is committed to maintaining the privacy of its customers, it will not disclose this information to just anyone (unless you are a law enforcement officer) then depending on the legal situation the ISP will disclose the data or not (or maybe it is obliged by a some sort or court or legal mandate in written).

No all you can figure out is their IP address and therefore the ISP.


This may be to a locality because of the exchange used by the phone company but that's about it.





If the IP address is known a hacker could target your PC, if they access it they can then see all of your data.





The autorities find people by tracking the IP and then going via the ISP and asking them to provide the registration details.

No you can't. If it was so easy there would be a serious issue here.
Their ISP is the only one who would carry


such information about the client regarding their


IP address. There are regional IP lookups though


that allow you to see the country, state and sometimes


even the city of the user in relation to their IP address.


This is usually packaged with most E-commerce


panels.

It will tell you who the owner is and the approximate geographical location.
google 'what is my ip'. if they are using a regular (dsl, cable, dialup, whatever) connection from their house, it will tell you your ip address (on the internet). if they are in a LAN (like a network at their work or something) that goes out on a gateway, then 'what is my ip' will tell you the ip out on the internet that the ';gateway'; uses for the LAN that a person is on. More than likely that lan has firewalls installed so there is no way to remote in to the network (without permissions/passwords). However, that certain computer goes out on a 'port'. Ports basically suck and you can't really use them unless you have a very good understanding of how they work, or you have an easy to use program that will get you through with no hassle. In short, if they are just at their house and want to know their ip out on the internet, but google 'what is my ip'.
Not really. You could do a WHOIS search on the address, but most likely you will get the contact info for the internet provider that owns the IP address. You would then have to contact the ISP for the person's address and they won't give that to you without a subpoena. There are ways to tell what part of the country the IP comes from, but that's about it.
You can figure out the general location and / or country. Many programs out there for IP tracing. However, if the person it using a proxy server, it won't tell you where they are located, only where the proxy server is located.
It depends upon your level of authority. If you have the public ip address of the person at a specific date and time you can request the access info from the ISP involved. The ISP will require a valid search warrant because that type of info is not a matter of public record.
