Thats a decision to be made with your lawyer. Usually, its how much you feel you should get to cover damages (to the car, and of course, yourself/medical bills) as well as the time away from your child, if you fell you can place a price on that. The lawyers and insurance company decide. Its an intangible amount that shouldn't be awarded anyway. Some people get a lot and really weren't hurt and those who were hurt have a hard time getting anything. There should be a different standard.
