Tuition is generally calculated by the credit hour. For example, if your college charges a hundred dollars per credit hour, and you're taking a full course load, which is usually 12 credit hours for the fall or spring semester, then tuition will be $1200, plus boarding, books, and meal plans. The charge per credit hour should be listed on the website or in the student handbook, as well as the cost for meal plans and boarding.
Books are a complete wild card, as that cost factor depends heavily on your degree program, how many classes you're taking during the semester, and how many books are required for each class. I'm in the secondary education program at my school, and my books generally run about 200-300 a semester, whereas my husband did his degree in laser technology, and his books ran around 900 a semester!
And, of course, you have to purchase all your own art supplies if you're an art major, or certain safety supplies if you're doing science or phys-ed. But fortunately, most of your books can be sold back at the end of the semester. How do you figure out tuitions for colleges because i dont understand how to do it?
The college's website should states its tuition per semester, then you add in the cost of a semesters meal plan, dorm, books, etc.
Most websites will have it listed for you.
