How can I figure out what it will cost me to go to college? ?

What kind of help is there for Hispanics? How can I figure out what it will cost me to go to college? ?
If you are still in high school talk to your counselor if you can for guidance (although my HS counselor didn't help me much, it is good to start somewhere.)

The cost will depend on whether you are going in state or out of state, community, state university, or private college. It also depends on what type of financial aid package you are awarded.

First, as soon as you can after January 1, file a FAFSA on the web. Make sure that you go to the government site, http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ and not some other site. Filing this form with the government is necessary for almost all schools and scholarships to calculate financial aid.

I don't know what kind of help there is specifically for Hispanics, but I know it is out there. Be resourceful and ask everyone. Also, be sure to apply for scholarships that are for other qualifications other than being Hispanic. Check with your bank or credit union to see if they have scholarships, check with your parents work or even your grandparent's work to see if they offer scholarships.

Also, some states have a student financial aid website. Check around. You should NEVER have to pay for information on scholarships, beware of scams.

This is quite a task, but you seem up to it. Good luck!
